Strategic Policy Coordination Branch

The Strategic Policy Coordination Branch provides advice on a range of crime prevention and criminal justice issues, including: transnational organised crime, trafficking in persons, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, corruption and foreign bribery. 

The Branch administers the:

  • Criminology Research Act 1971
  • Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006
  • Proceeds of Crime Act 2002
  • National Community Crime Prevention Programme
  • Commonwealth funding for CrimeStoppers Australia

The Assistant Secretary of the Branch is a member of the Board of Management of the Australian Institute of Criminology, the Criminology Research Council, the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council and represents the Department on the Advisory Policy Committee of the International Centre for Crime Prevention and at the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
