The aim of the 2-day Introduction to Information and Communications Technology Security (IICTS) course is to provide security practitioners with an overview of the principles, policy and procedures relating to information and communications technology (ICT) security. The course is designed for general protective security practitioners including members of an organisations’ security team, Agency Security Advisers (ASAs) and managers with responsibility for the ICT security function. It is designed to provide a contemporary, non-technical overview of the ICT security environment.
The course uses workshops, case studies, and practical examples to develop further understanding and enhance competence in the application of ICT security methodologies. The course is based on the Australian Government Protective Security Manual (PSM), the Australian Government Information and Communications Technology Security Manual (ACSI 33) published by the Defence Signals Directorate, and AS/NZS ISO/IEC 27001:2006, Information Technology – Security techniques.
